Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

I’ve always been an word person. Having a passion for words has been present in my personality for as long as I can remember, constantly writing stories, or reading a book at every chance I got. Being transported to another place completely through words on a page is probably the best thing in the world. I’ve been slacking on reading lately (I’ve been living such a dream lately, it’s almost unreal), but I can still smell the sweet scent of opening an old, worn, loved library book for the first time, or holding a brand new copy and smelling the new pages. Here are a few of my favorites.

The Outsiders by SE Hinton– My favorite story of all time I think. Stay gold.

What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey– A book based on the question Oprah was onced faced with- “What do you know for sure?”. An interesting concept, but a complex one nonetheless.

I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson– Something I read at the end of my freshman year, and it reminds me of that time of my life. I don’t think I’ll ever forget this absolutely breathtaking book.

I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai– The story of perseverance, told by the woman herself. An amazing read.

It by Alexa Chung– My favorite book. There’s not much to say, because it’s mostly a photo album by Alexa, but I just love it so much.

Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger- I read this one in my sophomore year English class, with some of my best friends and my favorite teacher. Holden holds a special place in my heart. A classic.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom– One I read on the way back home from Chicago in one sitting. Somehow everything in life is always tied together, and I guess that is where my favorite stories begin.

The History of Love by Nicole Krauss– A recommendation of my beloved 10th grade American Literature teacher, one which she said would totally be “my jam”. And it was. A remarkable  story of finding your way.

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert– To some, tacky and a romantic comedy at best. In my opinion, a journey around the world, and deeper into the self. A classic.

Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates– A coming of age story, told in the form of a letter to Coates’ son. Especially relevant in the world right at this moment. Another must read.

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven

7,300 Days by Isabella Mente

The Red Leather Diary by Lily Knopel

Bossypants by Tina Fey

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz

In The Country We Love: My Family Divided by Diane Guerrero

The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

  1. All The Bright Places is my favourite book in the world, Catcher In The Rye is my second favourite and I also really enjoyed I’ll Give You The Sun – it was such a nice read. I also enjoyed It, it’s aesthetically pleasing and is a great thing to display in my room hahah. The 5 People You Meet In Heaven is on my TBR and has been for ages now, I need to get round to reading it! Try reading The Sky Is Everywhere also by Jandy Nelson and Tuesdays With Morrie also by Mitch Albom – if you’ve enjoyed their other books I’m super positive you’ll enjoy those .xx
